A house put up for auction despite having no fixtures, fittings or even floors has been sold at auction.

Six bidders took part in a 24-hour online auction for the property in Sheffield, after it was listed for just £1,000.

The building, which sold for £27,000, was described be auctioneers as an "excellent opportunity" albeit in "shell condition".

While distinctly lacking in home comforts, chartered surveyor Mohammed Mahroof said: "People who generally buy at auction always see an angle."

Photos of the boarded-up property in Hinde Street revealed a compete lack of floors, internal walls or amenities.

But that did not stop prospective buyers, with 28 bids placed before the auction ended at 15:00 BST.

And, while £27,000 may seem a lot, the final price is well below the average £95,000 price for a house on the street, according to The Move Market.

The identity of the successful bidder is unknown.
