A £500,000 project to improve a public park has been completed.

The work at the recreation ground on Unicorn Road, in Oswestry, began in November, and the money also paid for improvements to a route between two residential areas.

Shropshire Council said the improvements included new crossings on Unicorn Road and Cabin Lane, solar powered lighting, new entrances, seating and tables, new signage and landscaping.

The local authority said bike racks would also be fitted soon, along with bird boxes, and there were plans to plant community fruit bushes.

It said the changes were designed to "encourage more use for all ages" and the nearby Meadows School had been involved.
