A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in a flat.

Police were called to the home on Linfield Road in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, at about 21:30 GMT on Wednesday after paramedics found a man who was unresponsive.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, Staffordshire Police said, and a cordon was put in place at the flat and at a nearby phone box as officers investigated.

The suspect, aged 56 and from the city, remained in custody where he would be questioned, a force spokesperson added.

They said officers were working to track down the dead man's family and urged people not to speculate about his identity.
