Arrest after woman fatally hit by van

The suspect is being questioned on suspicion of drug driving and causing death by dangerous driving

A man has been arrested after a woman died after being hit by a van in Sandwell on Wednesday morning.
The woman, aged in her 60s, was taken to hospital after being struck near the junction of Wolverhampton Road and Albert Road in Oldbury just after 06:30 GMT.
A 31-year-old man, who was detained on suspicion of drug driving, has now been further arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "Our thoughts and support are with [the woman's] loved ones at this terrible time."
The force is keen to hear from anyone with information, and particularly dashcam footage.
