New mini golf course planned for leisure centre

Plans have been drawn up for a mini-golf course and spinning studio

Plans for a nine-hole mini golf course and spinning studio have been proposed for a council-run leisure centre.

The Dolphin Centre, in Darlington, could receive £1.4m investment to build a new entertainment space including for darts and shuffleboards.

The plans also include refurbishing the current fitness area.

Councillor Matthew Roche, Darlington Borough Council's cabinet member for health and housing, said the plans would "increase footfall in the town centre" and boost the leisure centre's finances.

He said: "The Dolphin Centre has been at the heart of Darlington life for over 40 years.

"As a 43-year-old building, it naturally needs some time, love and care from time to time, and these new proposals will help make sure it continues to thrive."

The council said the plans will be voted on next week and if they are approved, work will begin in late 2025.
