A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was hit by a car in Bradford.

Officers were called to Hillcrest Drive, in the Queensbury area of the city, shortly after 12:45 BST on Friday.

"The victim is in hospital with very serious injuries which are described as life-threatening. We have a man in custody and extensive enquiries ongoing to investigate this awful incident.

"We appreciate that this incident will cause some concern in the wider community and there will be increased patrols in the area."
