Driver taken to hospital after bus crashes into building

A driver was taken to hospital after a bus crashed into a set of traffic lights and a building in Glasgow city centre.

Police were called to North Frederick Street at around 08:25, after the single-decker First Bus hit the corner of the Flight Club bar on George Square.

The road was closed off to traffic while the bus was towed away by a recovery lorry.

A First Bus spokesperson said the bus had been a number 57 heading towards Balornock.

"Our driver was taken to hospital for assessment, and we're not aware of any injuries to passengers." they said.

They added that the bus had been returned to its depot and the compay were "investigating the cause of the incident."
