Solar power could help club cut ticket prices

A non-league football club has completed the first phase of the installation of 400 rooftop solar panels after being taken over by a green energy firm.
Bridlington Town was bought by HDM Worldwide, a Hull-based company, earlier this year.
The panels at the 2,800-capacity Mounting Systems Stadium have been installed as part of a project to promote sustainable energy in the sport.
The scheme enables the club to purchase the energy at rates significantly below grid-supplied prices and officials said the savings could lead to cheaper ticket prices, among other benefits.
The energy generated by the solar panels is expected to power the stadium, with any excess released to the national grid.
Dan Rogers, chief executive of HDM Worldwide Ltd, said: "Since taking ownership of the club just a few weeks ago, we’ve made such positive strides towards a sustainable future.
"Savings from the new energy scheme and the revenue generated from the solar systems will be passed on to loyal Seasiders fans, and reinvested via playing budgets and more."
Mr Rogers said he hoped the energy savings could be passed on to fans in the form of reduced ticket prices.
The club has also attracted sponsorship from Duracell Energy, with new EV chargers included in the deal.
The Seasiders currently play in the Northern Premier League East Division, the eighth tier of English football, and Mr Rogers said having a leader in solar and battery technology as a kit sponsor was not something often seen at this level.
"It shows our fans and stakeholders our ambition for the team, the sustainability of the club, and the area at large," he said.
He added that a women's team would be set up in the near future and the club would work with local schools to provide football training.
