Town to celebrate Pride with parade and festival
- Published
Thousands of people are expected to turn out for a town's annual Pride celebrations.
King's Lynn and West Norfolk Pride begins at 10:00 BST in Tuesday Market Place and includes a parade through town centre streets and a free festival at The Walks from 13:00 BST.
The event began in 2018 after its founders were inspired by the previous year's Norwich Pride.
Jo Rust, one of the founders, said it had "grown enormously" since, adding: "For the town and the LGBTQ+ community it brings a celebration, but also an indication that we still have to fight for equality."
"Until it's accepted that trans rights are human rights there is work to be done," she added.
The festival, hosted by drag queen Titania Trust, includes live entertainment, a funfair and stalls selling food, drink and merchandise.
Events continue into Saturday evening, with a bar and music in The Walks until 21:00 BST and an after party at The Hob on Littleport Street into the early hours.
