Woman charged after car crashes into shop injuring customer

A 71-year-old woman has been charged after a car crashed into a shop in Ballymena leaving a man trapped, police have said.

It happened at about 19:00 BST on Friday and significant damage was caused to the front of the store on the Grove Road, including a smashed window and interior damage.

The woman has been charged with driving with excess alcohol in her breath and dangerous driving.

The man, who was shopping at the time, was freed and treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for treatment.

The woman is due to appear before Ballymena Magistrates' Court on 13 November.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
