A major motorway was closed after an air ambulance was called to a multi-vehicle collision.

The M25 anti-clockwise carriageway between junction 25 for Waltham Cross and junction 24 for Potters Bar in Hertfordshire was closed at about 14:00 GMT.

As well as this the clockwise carriageway was also closed between junction 23 for the A1M and junction 25 to allow the air ambulance to land.

National Highways urged drivers to "plan ahead" and avoid the area if possible before all lanes reopened at 16:20.
