Festival captures town's 'spirit of creativity'

The event included a diverse range of performances, art, music and workshops

A two-day festival was a "huge success" and attracted thousands of visitors, organisers have said.

The Art of Tamworth festival in Staffordshire was held in the town centre and grounds of Tamworth Castle last weekend.

New Urban Era (Nue), one of the main organisers, said its diverse programme celebrated arts and culture and captured "the spirit of creativity and community that defines Tamworth".

The festival included an acrobatic and drumming show by Dubafrique, trapeze artistry, street art and live music.

The event was a two-day celebration of arts and culture, said organisers

"We are absolutely thrilled with the turnout and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from the public," said Vic Brown, New Urban Era founder.

"The goal of Art of Tamworth has always been to make art accessible and to celebrate the incredible talent we have both locally and nationally."

The Tamworth bandstand was a "hub of activity", said organisers, featuring music performances as well as aerial fitness displays

Mr Brown added the weekend showed there was a "huge appetite for this kind of event" in the community.

It also featured live American wrestling at the Ankerside shopping centre and creative art workshops, while street artists transformed areas around the castle grounds.
