Alton Towers' Nemesis rollercoaster is set to reopen next month after a major revamp.

The ride, which dates back to 1994, has been closed since November 2022 for work.

Nemesis, which originally cost £10m, featured what was at the time a revolutionary design and it continued to attract rollercoaster fans from all over the world over the next 28 years.

Renamed Nemesis Reborn it is due to open at the Staffordshire theme park on 16 March.

Its look has been a closely guarded secret during construction, with Alton Towers describing it as "a fearsome creature, fury heightened and more uncontrollable than ever before".

As part of its overhaul, the entire 716m (2,349ft) track has been replaced.

The original ride travelled over 800,000 miles during its lifetime, the park said, and carried more than 52 million people.

It was one of the world's first inverted rollercoasters, with carriages riding under the track.

Testing of the revamped ride took place last month, with Bianca Sammut, divisional director of the resort, saying it was incredible to see it running.
