New shows aim to boost grassroots music talent

Rapper $ebbuku headlined the first New Noise! show

A new series of concerts has been launched aimed at showcasing and promoting grassroots music in Norfolk.

New Noise! will see emerging artists perform at Voodoo Daddy's Showroom on London Street, Norwich, on the first Tuesday of every month between February and June.

The initiative is a collaboration between Access Creative College Norwich and three other local organisations.

They hope the concerts will help raise the profile of musicians who have finished their courses.

Seb Bates, 19, who goes by the rap name $ebbuku, headlined the first show on Tuesday night.

"It's such a great opportunity for young artists to have their performance showcased," he said.

"New Noise! will lead to more new talent growing their careers by hitting stages like Latitude, which was really important to me when I started my journey in this industry."

Other artists who took to the stage at the sold-out show included Arthur Black, Jen Jen and samarchy.

Dan Foden, head of campus at Access Creative College Norwich, said: "The opportunity to team up with vital creative organisations like Norfolk Music Hub, Play Produce Promote and Pica pica, Pica pica! to bring these shows to life has been incredible."
