A grassroots football club has submitted plans for a new sports ground.

The application by Deeping United FC to change the use of 4.3 hectares (10.62 acres) of farmland has been made to South Kesteven District Council.

The club has more than 450 playing members and currently shares facilities with The Deepings School.

According to the application, the new pitch was needed due to the limitations of using a shared facility and increased demand.

The plans include provision for a number of football pitches of varying sizes, for different age groups, along with a toilet block, car park and separate training area.

The club’s mission statement outlines its ambition to provide a friendly, inclusive, safe and supportive environment for players to flourish.

It currently has a number of youth and adult teams, as well as providing opportunities for youngsters with disabilites to play.

The application is due to be decided at a later date.
