On-demand bus services in Nottinghamshire will be expanded later this month.

Nottinghamshire County Council said it is offering the Nottsbus service in central Rushcliffe between 07:00 and 19:00 BST, which will run from Mondays to Saturdays from 22 July.

It will operate in Bradmore, Broughton, Bunny, Colston Bassett, Hickling, Keyworth, Ruddington and other towns and villages, and will replace the 850, 852, 853 and 863 bus services.

Existing systems in and around Mansfield and Newark will also be expanded.

The Mansfield service, which was first rolled out in August 2022, will now run from 19:30 to 00:00 Monday to Saturday, as opposed to three nights a week.

Newark will also have a similar timetable, which will include residents in Balderton, Coddington, Hawtonville and Winthorpe.

Neil Clarke, the county council's cabinet member for transport and environment, said the plans "are part of our commitment to provide accessible, affordable and sustainable transport".

“Residents no longer have to worry about timetables, routes or parking as they can just use the Nottsbus on Demand App or phone up to select a pick-up and drop-off point in the zone and we'll do the rest," he added.

“We have gained valuable experience from our previous pilot zones and so it is exciting to see further expansion of the scheme providing a bus service for our rural communities.”
