A man has been airlifted to hospital after getting into difficulty in the water near Fraserburgh.

Coastguard and lifeboat crews were deployed to the Aberdeenshire town shortly after 14:45 BST on Saturday.

Police Scotland were also called to control a crowd which formed nearby after the man was spotted in the water.

He was later taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by the Scottish Ambulance Service but his condition is unknown.
