Cotswold leisure centre refurbishment set to begin
- Published
Refurbishment work at a leisure centre in the Cotswolds is set to begin in August.
Improvements including new water play features, accessible facilities and upgrades to showers and the dance studio are being made at Bourton-on-the-Water Leisure Centre.
A new cafe area will also be built, with work taking place throughout the month.
The revamp has been funded by Cotswold District Council (CDC) with plans based on proposals made by its leisure provider Freedom Leisure.
Healthy lifestyle
Councillor Paul Hodgkinson, cabinet member for health, leisure and parking at CDC said: “The improvements will enhance the user experience for all ages, and with Costa coffee now on offer, a great place to meet with friends as well.
“Improved accessibility ensures an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome and can benefit from adopting or maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
Freedom Leisure, which runs the centre, will keep customers informed of any changes to services on offer during the work.
The group's regional manager, Lee Thomas, said: “These improvements underpin our firm commitment to Cotswold District Council that we will deliver the best possible service and facilities to the community of Bourton.
"The works will expand our portfolio of activities to include a much-improved offer for children in the pool, for our group exercise participants and enable those that need more support to access the facility more easily."
