Plans to build 20 new flats on the site of a former social club have been submitted.

JEM Developments Ltd wants to build on land in Horndean Road, Sheffield, which was once the home of St Cuthbert’s Family Social Club.

The site, opposite the Northern General Hospital, has been vacant for 17 years, despite planning consent being granted on two previous occasions.

Sheffield City Council planning officers are due to make a decision on the new proposal before 25 September, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

JEM Developments wants to create three one-bed studios, 12 one-bedroom flats, three two-bedroom flats and two three-bed flats on land adjacent to St Cuthbert’s Church.

The proposed development will be part four-storey and part three-storey, with eight parking spaces, landscaping and access.

The planning document said: “This level of parking is considered to be appropriate for the size and type of the proposed units as well as car ownership within the local area.”
