A special constable has been charged with various offences following an investigation by the police watchdog.
William Heggs, a Leicestershire Police special constable, has been charged with one count of misconduct in public office, and nine counts of unauthorised computer access, contrary to section 1 of the Computer Misuse Act 1990.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said he was also charged with three counts of unlawfully obtaining/disclosing personal data, contrary to section 170 of the Data Protection Act 2018.
The 23-year-old will appear before Leicester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
The IOPC said it launched an investigation into allegations he shared images and information from police systems and incidents he attended following a mandatory referral from the force in November 2021.
Leicestershire Police confirmed Mr Heggs has been suspended since then.
