Two arrested over attempted murder of teenager

Two people have been arrested after a teenager suffered serious injuries in a stabbing in East Sussex.

A 17-year-old boy from St Leonards and an 18-year-old man of no fixed address have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Emergency services were called to Wannock Road, Polegate, on Monday at about 21:00 GMT.

A 17-year-old boy was found with stab wounds and was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital - his injuries are no longer considered to be life-threatening, Sussex Police said.

Det Insp Jess Langlands said a "thorough investigation" was launched as soon as the incident was reported.

"I understand this will be distressing for the community, but I would like to assure them that this is understood to be an isolated incident," the officer said.

The force asked anyone with relevant information or CCTV footage to come forward.
