A nurse who sent pornographic pictures to a colleague has been struck off.

Lee Rennie worked at Fryers House in Romsey, Hampshire, a home for adults with physical disabilities, from 2017.

In April 2022, he was referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) after staff said he had sent them sexually explicit messages.

Mr Rennie admitted sending the messages and an NMC panel found, external in two of four cases involving colleagues his behaviour was “sexually motivated”.

He was suspended from work at Fryers House, which is run by the Leonard Cheshire Trust, in April 2022 and sacked following an internal investigation in May 2022.

The panel heard he admitted he was drunk when he sent the messages and said his actions were “stupid”.

In one case, a colleague told Mr Rennie that him sending the messages was “bordering harassment” but he continued to do so.

He also admitted leaving a shift without authorisation, which the panel said put patients “at risk of harm”.

It said it decided to strike him off the NMC register after it concluded he abused his “position of power” and “presented a lack of insight”.

It also found there was a “risk of repetition arising from the pattern of [his] misconduct”, despite him being a "highly competent nurse" who has "a history of providing high quality patient care".
