A man who was found by police staring at the TV after killing his wife in a "horrific attack" has been jailed.

Malgorzata Lechanska, 37, suffered significant injuries to her head and body and was declared dead at the scene at the home in Shipdham, Norfolk in August 2021.

Rafal Winiarski, 42, of Lake Close, admitted her manslaughter.

At Norwich Crown Court he was jailed for 21 years, with an extended licence period of four years.

Norfolk Police said a neighbour reported a man shouting and a woman screaming at the property.

Officers found Ms Lechanska collapsed and not breathing on the kitchen floor, while Winiarski was sat on the sofa in the lounge staring at the TV.

Police said his wife's injuries were "consistent with an attack by a bladed weapon".

Det Insp Alix Wright said: “This was a horrific attack by Rafal Winiarski against his wife. Malgorzata’s family have shown tremendous bravery throughout the investigation.

“We are committed to targeting domestic abuse as a priority and will continue to work with partner agencies to help victims.

“We would encourage anyone who has been a victim of domestic abuse or coercive and controlling behaviour to report this to police or seek professional support.”
