An 18-year-old woman has been left with life-threatening injuries after a crash on Sunday, according to police.

They said a 33-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving at the scene.

The collision happened just after 14:00 BST on the A51 Wettenhall Road in Reaseheath, near Nantwich.

It involved a black Renault Clio and a red Toyota Aygo, Cheshire Police said, as they appealed for witnesses.

They said the driver of the Toyota Aygo was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital for treatment.

Insp Steve Griffiths said Cheshire Police were particularly keen to speak to the driver of a dark-coloured vehicle, which they believe to be either a BMW or Lexus.

The car was travelling towards Nantwich at the time of the crash and the driver may have witnessed the collision, he added.

"This incident occurred on a busy stretch of road at time of day when many people will have been driving, so we are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or captured any dashcam or CCTV footage which may aid our enquiries, to get in touch,” he said.
