Young people are being encouraged to volunteer for Jersey's consumer watchdog.

The Jersey Consumer Council (JCC) said it wanted to recruit people with a range of skills - including secretarial, digital and social media skills - to help "improve the lives of consumers".

It said people from all ages were welcome but it was "particularly keen" to recruit islanders in the 20s and 30s as it was an area "currently under-represented in the organisation".

JCC chairman Carl Walker said the new recruits would be helping all islanders.

"As the cost of living crisis continues to bite hard, we want to increase our membership so that we can help as many islanders as possible," he said.

"From price checking and researching products, to feeding back on new government policy and helping consumers with everyday issues, a role on our council is as varied as it is rewarding."

The JCC said it planned to recruit a separate team of volunteer data researchers to help expand its price comparison service.
