A 13-year-old boy has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a lollipop man was attacked by a gang riding scrambler bikes.

The man, in his 70s, was taken to hospital with broken ribs after the incident at about 15:30 BST in the Fulwood area of Preston on Wednesday.

Lancashire Police said he was assaulted by a group of young people "riding antisocially" on Black Bull Lane.

A 15-year-old boy from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in custody for questioning.

The force has renewed its appeal for any witnesses to contact them.

They are also appealing for information on the whereabouts of a scrambler-style bike pictured on CCTV.
