Drivers in Middlesbrough are being warned part of a busy road will be temporarily closed, as resurfacing works are carried out during the evening.

A short section of the A1032 Acklam Road, from the West Lane area heading south towards Linthorpe and Whinney Banks, will close in both directions from Wednesday.

Work will take place between 19:15 GMT and midnight on 13, 14 and 15 March, and at the same times on 18, 19 and 20.

A local diversion route will be signed, with temporary bus stops put in place where necessary, Middlesbrough Council said.

The local authority said sections of road will be closed in three phases , externalfrom the junction with Ayresome Street to the roundabout at Kingsbridge Crescent and Westbourne Park.

“These works are part of a wider programme of resurfacing to improve roads across Middlesbrough," a spokesperson said.

“They have been planned to avoid the evening rush hour but some disruption to road users is inevitable and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
