Nine local charities have been chosen to be beneficiaries of Jersey's biggest sporting fundraising event for 2024.

The Lions club of Jersey said its annual swimarathon has been sponsored by Ravenscroft for the sixth time.

This year's chosen theme was supporting outdoor wellbeing and therapy projects, they added.

The nine local charities chosen are Brighter Futures, Beach Ability, Jersey Mencap, Jersey Sea Cadets, Acorn Enterprises, Autism Jersey, Wet Wheels Jersey, Healing Waves and Les Amis.

The charities were asked to apply to be beneficiaries alongside the Lions Club which uses the money for charitable support across the year.

The swimarathon has raised more than £3.8m over the past 50 years.

More than 400 teams, including schools, businesses, charities and States departments have already signed up to take part in the this year's event, organisers said.

The five-day event is to take place at Les Quennevais Pool from 13 to 17 March 2024.

"It’s amazing that 52 years after the first swimarathon that we continue to have such incredible support from the Jersey community,” said Lion's club president Ian Robins.
