Man, 35, critical in hospital after attack on bus in Kirkmuirhill

A 35-year-old man is in critical condition in hospital after a serious assault on a bus in South Lanarkshire.
The man and a 15-year-old boy were both attacked on the bus just after 23:00 on Friday, in the Thornton Road area of Kirkmuirhill.
Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The boy was released after treatment.
Police Scotland are trying to trace a white male, aged 18 – 25, after the attack. He was wearing a hooded jacket a black baseball cap.
This man boarded the bus at Abbeygreen, near to New Trows Road in Lesmahagow and exited the bus on Vere Road, near Strathaven Road in Kirkmuirhill.
Det Ch Insp Susie Cairns said the force was looking to establish the "full circumstances" of the incident.
She added: “Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened is asked to get in touch, external.
“We are also asking people to check their CCTV and if they have captured anything that could assist with our investigation then to please make contact with officers.”
