An investigation has been launched after a worker died at a care home in Coventry.

Emergency services were called to Grove House Residential Care Home, Keresley, at about 08:40 BST on Wednesday.

A woman in her 60s was given advanced life support after she was found in a critical condition, however she died at the scene.

Coventry City Council said its health and safety team was working with the police to investigate the matter.

“Our thoughts are with her family, friends and work colleagues during this very difficult time," the council said.

The authority added that it was working with the care home to "ensure the ongoing safety of residents and staff".

West Midlands Police said the worker's death was not being treated as suspicious and a report for the coroner would be prepared in due course.
