A Plymouth locksmith company has won a King’s Award for Enterprise.

Sir Fix-a-lock is one of 252 organisations nationally to be recognised with the award and one of only 29 to be recognised in the sustainable development category.

The company, based on Plymouth Hoe, makes use of solar panels for electricity, runs a fleet of electric vehicles, and promotes products made from renewable materials.

The awards, previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed last year to reflect the King’s desire to continue recognising outstanding UK businesses.

Paul Montgomery, the company founder, expressed his pride in Sir Fix-a-lock's achievements.

"To win the King’s Award for Enterprise is truly humbling and exhilarating," he said.

"The dedication of our team has been immense, and we are all honoured to wear the King's Award emblem."
