Police are investigating the death of a woman in a crash at a bus station.

Ann Weymouth, 73, of Sunnymeade, Carlisle was taken to hospital on Friday after she was hit by a bus at the city's terminus in Lonsdale Street, but died from her injuries on Sunday at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

Ms Weymouth's family paid tribute to her and described her as a loving mother, grandmother and sibling.

"Ann was the kindest, most caring person we knew and she was taken away far too soon," the family said in a statement. "She'll be forever helping others."

A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "An investigation into the full circumstances of the collision remains ongoing."

Officers have asked witnesses to the crash, which happened at about 08:25 BST, to contact them.
