A man killed in a car crash “brought happiness and light into the lives of everyone he met” and was a "truly fantastic bloke," his family said.

Dominic Davis-Smith, 30, from Holbury, died after the blue Ford Ka he was a passenger in hit a tree in Normandy Way, Marchwood, at about 23:30 BST on 16 August.

The Ka’s driver, an 18-year-old woman from Totton, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged.

Mr Davis-Smith’s family said he was a “lovely, caring son, brother and grandson” who showed “great strength and determination to live life to the max”.

In a statement released through Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, they added: "Some will remember [Mr Davis-Smith] as the heart and soul of the party, always living for the moment, and others would know him as a smiler, a truly fantastic bloke.

"Dominic also had another amazing side to him; he was a kind and caring person who always put his family and friends first.”

The police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing and anyone with any information should call 101 and quote reference 44240352481.
