Drop-in event on flooding to be held in Guildford

A drop-in event is to be held in Guildford to help raise awareness of the risk of flooding.
The event will be held from 11:00 BST until 15:00 on Wednesday at Guildford Cricket Club's pavilion.
The Environment Agency (EA) said officers will provide advice on personal and community flood-resilience at its event.
Delegates from Surrey County Council, Guildford Borough Council and the South East Rivers Trust will all be present.
The event will showcase online tools and resources available to help people prepare for flooding.
There will also be the opportunity to sign-up to the EA’s flood warning service.
Parts of Guildford are prone to flooding, with incidents as recent as August which left cars stranded.
The Millmead area of Guildford was hit by flooding from the River Wey in early March.
Maddy Adams, flood resilience manager at the EA, said: “This event aims to put residents and businesses in the best possible position to face heavy rain and possible flooding in the months ahead.”
