The boy was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court last Thursday

A 17-year-old has been given a custodial sentence after stabbing another boy at a college in Birmingham.
West Midlands Police were called to University College Birmingham on Summer Row on the afternoon of 10 September. A boy, whose injuries were described as non life-threatening, was taken to hospital.
The accused, who cannot be named due to his age, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon, and at Birmingham Crown Court last Thursday was sentenced to serve two years and ten months in a Young Offenders Institution.
Insp Michael Wright said the force believed the stabbing was linked to an argument between two groups earlier in the day.
"We work hard with young people in Birmingham and across the West Midlands to educate them on the dangers of carrying a weapon – and sadly this is a clear reminder of the consequences it can have," he said.
"The boy that was hurt could easily have been more seriously injured, and I am pleased that our investigation has led to the offender being sentenced for his actions."
