Volunteers needed to plant 4,000 wildflowers

More wildflowers and trees will be planted at Humber Bridge Country Park in Hessle

Volunteers are needed to plant 4,000 wildflowers and 120 trees at an East Yorkshire park.

Sessions will be held from 26 to 28 October at Humber Bridge Country Park in Hessle.

Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, invited people to "get involved in creating a better environment".

Once established, wildflower meadows help bees, butterflies and other creatures thrive.

The planting forms part of a wider, government-funded initiative to improve the condition of meadows and woodlands.
