A motorcycle rider in his 20s died in a crash in Rutland, police said.

No other vehicles apart from a black Triumph motorbike were involved in the crash on the A6003 Stamford Road in Oakham on Thursday.

Officers were called to the roundabout at Burley Park Way at about 18:00 GMT.

The rider, who has not been named by Leicestershire Police, died at the scene.

Det Con Adam Bancroft, from the serious collision investigation unit, asked for anyone who may have captured dashcam footage in the area at the time to come forward.

He also said the man's family "would like to express their thanks to those members of the public who stopped at the scene to provide first aid".
