Two teenagers arrested after a major fire at a Dunelm store have been released on bail.

Police questioned the boys, aged 14 and 15, following the blaze at Nene Valley Retail Park off Towcester Road in Northampton on Saturday.

A 13-year-old boy was also arrested but has since been released with no further action.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) said one crew remained at the scene to damp down any hotspots but all roads in the area had reopened.

It advised people living or working nearby to keep doors and windows closed if they could smell smoke.

The fire was first reported just after 15:00 BST on Saturday in the Dunelm store at the retail park.

The flames soon spread to the adjacent Pets at Home unit but police confirmed the store manager had "made swift arrangements to move the animals to safety".

NFRS said it would be sending an aerial appliance to the site on Monday to monitor hotspots and the service would continue to have "a presence at the site for the next few days".

Assistant chief fire officer Phil Pells said: "We do not underestimate the impact this incident has had on these businesses and the people who work there, as well as the local community.

"We would ask people to continue to stay away from the scene so that our fire investigation officers can continue their work."

He thanked the people of St James for their patience and said a protection team would be visiting local businesses in the area to offer support and advice on fire safety in their premises.
