A woman in her 80s has been seriously injured after being struck by a bus in Hythe.

Kent Police was called to Prospect Road shortly before 15.00 BST on Wednesday, after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a bus travelling between Sun Lane and Douglas Avenue.

Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service. The woman was airlifted to a London hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

Detectives from the force's serious collision investigation unit are particularly keen to speak with passengers on the bus who may have left before police arrived.

The woman's next of kin has been informed.
