Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) has secured planning permission to build 160 new homes at site near Stornoway in Lewis.

The social housing has been proposed for a site at Sandwick.

The development, known as the Melbost West, are to be constructed in four phases and would be a mix of one and two-storey semi-detached homes.

Councillors unanimously backed the granting of planning permission, subject to conditions.

Most of the properties would be for households of two to four people, while some larger homes would be for up to seven people.
