A man has been arrested after a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after a crash on the motorway near Bradford.

Police received reports of a collision involving a Triumph motorcycle and a black Seat Ibiza on the northbound carriageway of the M606 near the exit slip for the Euroway Trading Estate in the early hours.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 37-year-old man, understood to be the driver of the Seat Ibiza, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the prescribed limit, West Yorkshire Police said.

The force said it was keen for any information about a grey Volkswagen Golf, which is thought to have been driving at high speed alongside the motorcycle.

Police said the driver had not stopped at the scene and had continued on towards Staithgate roundabout.
