A former beauty salon in a town centre could become a GP surgery and medical centre.

Plans have been submitted to turn the Imperium Beauty building in Northampton into an NHS-run site.

The application to West Northamptonshire Council states that there would be no major external changes to the building

A decision is expected from the council before 4 September.

"The final internal configuration will change depending on the layout the NHS require; however, this will have no impact on any external elevations," the application says.

It adds that patients can "safely and conveniently" park nearby.
