Gales brought by Storm Floris are impacting the Irish Sea, leading to disruption to ferry sailings between the Isle of Man and the north west of England.

The fast craft Manannan crossing to Liverpool at 11:15 BST on Monday, and its afternoon return have both been cancelled.

Flagship vessel Manxman's morning journey to Heysham departed at 08:30 but passengers have been warned of a possible delay to its Douglas-bound return at 14:15.

A yellow weather warning was originally in place for wind gusts of up to 50mph (80km/h), but Ronaldsway Met Office confirmed it had now been cancelled as the worst of the weather had passed the island.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said the 16:00 crossing of Manannan is currently scheduled to go ahead, but would run with a "extended crossing time" -meaning it will take 30 minutes longer than usual.

A travel advisory on the company website reads: 'Due to the unpredictable forecast for Monday 4th August, there is the possibility of some disruption/cancellations to sailings. Passengers wishing to change or amend their sailings from Monday can do so free of charge.
