An electric van fire which resulted in a road closure for several hours was not caused by the vehicle's battery, the fire service has said.

Emergency crews were called at about 11:15 GMT on Wednesday to the incident at the bottom of Mont Cochon.

Plumes of black smoke were seen rising across the sky towards St Helier.

The fire service said there was "no evidence" that it was the high-voltage electric battery that caused it.
