A 70-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by a van in Belfast last week, police have said.

Paul Marshall, from Belfast, was taken to hospital for treatment but has since passed away.

The incident happened at around 17:40 BST on 2 September at Millfield junction in the city centre, close to Belfast Met's Millfield campus.

A 34-year-old man appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court on 4 September charged with driving with excess alcohol in breath and causing grievous bodily injury by driving carelessly with excess alcohol.

Police said a file would be submitted and the charges reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
