'Shine the light on your phone' at unlit bus stops

Bus passengers are being urged to use phone torches so drivers can spot them at unlit stops on the Isle of Wight

Passengers waiting at unlit bus stops on the Isle of Wight are being asked to help drivers spot them by shining a light onto the road.
Southern Vectis said with darker mornings and evenings "we are keen to ensure drivers can see those wishing to board".
The bus company said especially in the island's rural areas where many stops were not lit, passengers should use the torch on their phone, if they have one, and shine a light onto the road, gently rotating it as the bus approaches.
The company also said its drivers would continue to take extra care during the darker mornings and evenings to ensure passengers could board its buses safely.
Southern Vectis said: "Wearing dark clothing and standing still can make it difficult for our drivers to see you. Using a phone torch or any light source can really help."
It warned though that passengers should be careful not to shine lights directly into the bus drivers' eyes.
