Nearly a quarter of a million pounds is being spent improving safety at a road crossing where a pedestrian was badly hurt.
A zebra crossing at the junction of Holt Road and Mill Lane in Horsford, Norfolk, is being upgraded to a "puffin" crossing, equipped with a button for pedestrians to press.
Last Christmas Eve, a woman was seriously injured in a collision there. A driver later admitted causing serious injury by careless driving.
The work, which will cost £230,000, is expected to take three weeks. There will be temporary traffic lights and evening road closures on the 13, 14 and 15 November.
Norfolk County Council said while the crossing upgrade was already on a list of potential future work, it had agreed with Horsford Parish Council that it was urgently required.
On social media, external, a Horsford Parish Council spokesperson said: "It is appreciated this work will cause inconvenience and may be frustrating for some.
"Please remember the number of near collisions and near misses there have been on the pedestrian crossing, and the very serious accident that took place last Christmas Eve.
"The parish council and NCC highways are working together to make this crossing as safe as possible for everyone in the village."
