Shed project aims to address men’s mental health

The Men's Shed will be in the foyer of Warwick Arts Centre until the end of November

A project aimed at addressing men’s mental health has been launched in Coventry.

Warwick Arts Centre’s “Men’s Shed” has been designed to create a welcoming space for men to connect.

The shed will be located in the foyer of the organisation’s base at the University of Warwick until 30 November.

There are a number of sessions planned to coincide with it being situated at the centre, led by community organisations and NHS nursing staff.

Kate Walters, Warwick Arts Centre programme manager, said: “We are taking the conversation out into our public foyers to meet people where they are.”

Members of the public are invited to attend a suicide awareness talk and Q&A session on Tuesday, and the shed will be open throughout the rest of the week as a space to contemplate.

At the end of the project, the shed will be donated to a local community group, as a legacy project to help raise awareness.
