Woman, 90, dies after fire at mid-terraced house

Firefighters responded to reports of a house fire on Nithdale Road in Plumstead

A 90-year-old woman has died after a house fire in south-east London.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it was called to the mid-terraced property in Nithdale Road, Plumstead, at 01:48 BST.
Crews rescued the woman from the two-storey house but she was pronounced dead at the scene by the air ambulance team.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the LFB and Metropolitan Police.
LFB said the fire, which damaged part of the ground floor, was under control by 02:40.
A Met spokesperson said an increased police presence could be expected in the area and inquiries were ongoing.
