The northbound carriageway of a motorway was closed when a broken-down vehicle blocked a junction.

It happened early on Tuesday on the A1(M) northbound near Peterborough, at junction 16 for Norman Cross and Yaxley.

National Highways said there were about 3 miles (4.8km) of traffic jams.

Traffic was diverted off the road using exit and entry slip roads, a spokesperson added. All lanes of the carriageway were reopen by about 10:00 BST.
